Welcome to the new IMPACT Conference website!
"Wow ... where to begin? This was a weekend of networking,
teaching, learning, and, most importantly, idealism. At my campus, I
face the issue of different offices refusing to work together and
collaborate on similar programs. It's harming our university's
reputation, because social service agencies in town might have four
groups of volunteers coming from different university organizations and
offices, all of which have different forms, protocols, etc. Hearing
other people's stories and coming away from the conference with a high
level of idealism made me realize that since the university's not going
to fix this problem on its own, and since it keeps getting worse, it's
my job to step in."
(2008 student attendee)
The IMPACT Conference is historically the largest convening in the
country of campus community members involved in service, activism,
politics, advocacy, and other socially responsible work across
philosophical and ideological lines. This event builds on the legacy
set forth by the COOL Conference and the Idealist Campus Conference,
spanning an incredible 24-year history.
The conference is the one time during the year that college
students, nonprofit professionals, campus administrators, and year of
service members meet together to share their experiences, stories, and
resources in their work for social change. Conference attendees gather
across philosophies, ideologies, issues, geography, and approaches to
social change -- it is, indeed, a unique collection of young people and
the professional staff who support them!
